Target Tuesdays!

Yay it's Tuesday!!!!!

I actually have not to been to Target in many weeks (I think this is a record for me!) but I hoping to go tonight to grab some groceries and take a peek at some fall/cold weather clothes. Today I'm rocking some of my favorite Target pieces:

I bought this cardigan months ago, but I'm wearing it today, paired with a grey jersey dress, black leggings and these black flats:

I also have these flats in tan, and while it took a couple of wears to break them in, they are definitely going to be my favorite fall shoe!

Speaking of fall footwear, I ordered these boots a few weeks ago on Target.com because of the many rave reviews. However, being 5'8", they only came up to my mid-calf and they just didn't look right. I was so upset, because I loved the style/color:

So I'll be returning this and starting my search again for the perfect brown boot!

Or, perhaps I'll use my refund to buy:

or:

(which I posted about here!)

I have to say, fall is definitely one of my favorite seasons...don't get me wrong - I love me a good sundress and flip flops, but there's just something about the autumn air, changing leaves and cute fall clothes that get me really excited!!

What are you craving from Target lately?? Don't forget to link up at Tara's blog: www.fabulousbutevil.com

Could it be?

A new blog post after a month-long hiatus??

Yes, I am FINALLY updating the blog!

a) because I miss it,

and

b) because several people told me they missed it, too - aww :)

So much to write about, where do I even begin?? I think this calls for a bulleted list!

  • I am working at 2 new schools this year (same district) so I have roughly 600 students instead of 400 - joy! It's been a pretty smooth transition and I am slowly learning all the names and adjusting to my new schedule. I don't have Fridays off anymore, so that's been an adjustment, too!
  • Mars is ENORMOUS!! His most recent weigh-in was 65 lbs and he is exactly 5 months old today - our breeder/vet thinks he's going to be at least 100 lbs by the time he's done growing - good LORD!
  • I can't believe it was a year ago this weekend that we had our housewarming party! I'm loving that I can actually enjoy the season of fall this year and not be running around like a crazy lady trying to finish last minute projects, etc. I haven't even decorated my mantel for the new season yet - hopefully I'll have time this weekend since last weekend was a busy one!
  • We flew down to Key West last Friday to celebrate the wedding of one of my best friend's from college. I lived with Corey senior year and then 2 years later we moved into an apartment in South Boston and became very close friends. We had an amazing weekend and it all went by so fast! We're hoping to plan a visit with the newlyweds a few months from now (they recently moved to NC) when the weather in New England starts to get ugly!!
  • Speaking of weddings, we have SEVEN next year!!!! 1 in March, 1 in May, 2 in June, 2 in July and 1 in August...whew, I got tired just typing that out...The good news (I guess it's good??) is that I'm not in any of them, but I'll be singing at most of them.
Ok, time for some pictures to wrap up this post!

The iconic buoy in Key West!

Such a fun, beautiful and love-filled wedding!

My gift to the newlyweds - an idea I saw on Pinterest and just HAD to try! I really love how it came out (and they loved it too! Yay!!)

Ok, so I am really going to try and update this thing more often. We're planning to rearrange a few rooms soon, and I have lots of "furniture projects" in the near future that I'll be blogging about too!

Not to mention "Target Tuesdays!!!" My favorite!!

Target Tuesdays!

Now that the school year has finally started my blog has unfortunately taken a back seat :( But this is my favorite blog hop, so I had to link up this week!!

Got this Merona dress last night - as soon as I tried it on I was in love! Great material, perfect length for a tall gal like me and something you can easily wear from late summer into fall!

Here are some things I'm eyeing on the Target website:

Target Tuesdays!

Yay it's Tuesday again!! Linking up at Tara's blog for one of my favorite blog hops of the week.

Here are some recent purchases I made at Target for my kitchen

Comfort Kitchen Mat (link)

Perfect color for our kitchen, super comfy for standing at the sink, and easy to clean!

Nested canisters (mine are white but I couldn't find a picture online! link)

These were on clearance for $10!! I use the 2 bigger ones for flour/sugar and the little one for dog treats! They look great on my counter next to my white Kitchen Aid mixer!

Target Home Tablecloth in Brown (link)

I have this table cloth in the natural color and a pretty turquoise too.
They are very durable and machine washable!
Small White Wicker Basket (link)

These were on clearance for under $7 each, so I took all 3 that were sitting on the shelf! I love any and all kind of baskets and I think I can find a cute place for these somewhere in the kitchen or maybe the living room or bathroom - the possibilities are endless!!

Oh, Target - how I love you!!!

What I'm Loving Wednesdays!

Not only is it Wednesday, it's also my anniversary!

I'm loving the gorgeous weather we're having today, just like we did 3 years ago when Brandon and I got married in Providence, RI.

Other things I'm loving today:
  • My quick and easy makeup routine I've been using this summer, which consists of the following products:

(counter-clockwise)
1. Milani HD Advanced Concealer in #02 (you can get this at CVS)
2. L'Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Carbon Black
3. Urban Decay Primer Potion in Sin
4. NARS Bronzer in Laguna
5. NARS Blush in Orgasm
6. Blush/Powder Brushes (Black one is from either CVS or Target, clear one is Clinique)
7. Sally Hansen Eyelash Curler

Closeup of the NARS bronzer/blush

Closeup of UD Primer Potion - a pretty shimmery champagne color

I like that everything packs up nice and neat in this little bag I got from Ann Taylor Loft:

  • These body lotions from Bath & Body Works:
Dark Kiss - a blend of dark berries & vanilla

Vanilla Coconut

Smells like vacation!

Summer Reading

Even though I'm not working a 2nd job this summer (first summer since 1996 where I haven't!!) I still feel very busy and my days seem to fill up pretty quickly - hence the lack of blogging in the past few weeks!

I'm thankful that I've been able to do a good amount of reading this summer. I honestly cannot remember the last time I read for fun, and it's something I need to do more of.  Growing up, I was always reading (not just during the summer when we usually had to for school anyway!) and I'm mad at myself for not carving out a little time each day to pick up a book.  As much as I adore my iPhone and my MacBook, I think time away from them is a good thing - especially since I feel that we are a society that is slowly but surely moving away from actual physical books and I want to enjoy them while I can!

Ok, so onto some of my summer reads:

This is the sequel to "Something Borrowed" which I read this Spring. I also saw the movie and really liked it (I'm secretly hoping they're coming out with a movie for the sequel too!) If you haven't read "Something Borrowed," it's about 2 best friends, Rachel and Darcy.  To make a long story short (and sorry for the spoilers!), Rachel randomly sleeps with Darcy's fiance, Dex, and the 2 have an affair.  Eventually Dex realizes that he is no longer in love with Darcy and wants to be with Rachel.  At the end of the book, you find out that Darcy has ALSO had an affair with one of Dex's friends  (Marcus) and is now pregnant. Oh, and the story is written from Rachel's point of view.  In "Something Blue," the story picks up where it left off, but instead, it's written from Darcy's point of view.  Darcy lives with Marcus (the baby daddy) but soon realizes he is not the kind of man she wants to be with (and vice versa - Darcy is extremely high maintenance) and decides to move to London to stay with her childhood friend Ethan (Darcy, Ethan and Rachel went to school together)  I won't give away too many spoilers, but I really liked this book better than "Something Borrowed."  Maybe because Darcy goes through a complete character transformation (which, yes, did seem a little far-fetched at times) and I was literally in tears by the end of the book. All I know is I really enjoyed the book and I can't wait to read more of Emily Giffin's novels.  I like her writing style and the characters she creates.

I just finished reading this last week and I can't wait to see the movie (which I've heard is very good!)  I know I'm a little late to "The Help" scene, because it came out awhile ago and I just never got around to reading it til now.  What an amazing story! Without giving too much away (although I feel like most of you reading this have probably already read the book!) the story centers around 3 women living in Jackson, Mississippi in 1962.  Aibileen and Minny are black maids and Skeeter is a white socialite.  Together in secret, with the help of several other maids living in Jackson, they write a book about what it's like to work for white families in the South.  The books is told from the points of view of the 3 main characters, which I really enjoyed.  I didn't love the ending, and I'm curious how the movie interprets it, but other than that, it was a phenomenal book.  I'm a recent Mad Men fan, so reading this book had me thinking of the show, because they're both set in the early to mid 60s. I liked reading about the clothes they wore and how their houses were decorated, etc. Historical fictions are definitely my favorite and I need to find some more!

**Disclaimer** I haven't finished this one yet (only on page 89!) but I am reading it for school and already loving it! The book is "The Blessing of a Skinned Knee."  So much of what the author, Wendy Mogel, is writing about, I find myself nodding my head, agreeing with.  Her book is about how to raise self-reliant, respectful, and compassionate children using Jewish teachings. She talks about how parents want to be their children's friends instead of authority figures and how this ultimately hurts their child.  I can't wait to read more of this book and discuss it with my colleagues in the fall.

I recently signed up for bookfree.com, which is basically like Netflix for books.  You can decide how many books you want at a time, and there are no late fees - just send back the books when you're done and you'll be shipped the next book on your queue.  The two I have at home are "The Shack" and "Water for Elephants." I started "The Shack" but then I switched over to my book for school because I wanted to start reading it before September.  I know a lot of people who have read "The Shack" and didn't like it but I want to keep an open mind.  The only thing I'm not liking (even after reading just a few pages) is the writing style.  Too many adjectives, if that makes sense. I don't like when books are super wordy or describe things in a weird way.  So if I can get past that, hopefully I'll be able to read the whole thing.  I picked "Water for Elephants" because I know it was a popular read and I'd like to see the movie at some point, too.

So again, I apologize for the lack of posts, but it's because I've been busy reading! Oh, and chasing after this guy:

I can't believe he's almost 13 weeks old!! Loving every minute with our Mars :)

Target Tuesdays!

Linking up again at Tara's blog for one of my favorite blog hops!

First off, I have been such a bad blogger! Between our new puppy, getting together with friends and the lazy-ness of summer vacation, I have been slacking off - so I apologize!!

Here are some of my latest finds at Target:

Ona flats in Taupe - super comfy! Thank you Target for finally making a decent flat! I'm hoping to snag a pair in black too while they're on sale for $12!! They also come in red and a navy/purple color.

Mossimo Pocket Tee (Juniors) - I have an unhealthy obsession with these $8 tees (on sale now for only $5!) I think I have them in just about every color under the sun. And I love how every few months Target will come out with new shades. They have some fun "fall-ish" looking colors out right now. The one I'm wearing today reminds me of the color of raspberry sorbet (couldn't find a picture online tho - boo!)

Obviously this is something you could get at any book store, but I love the fact that Target's price is 20% off the list price!! I'm almost halfway thru this and loving it!

Gotta love the Clearance section at Target! Can't wait to wear this cute little skirt! I love all the color options I have with it for tops/shoes/accessories too! (Could probably pair it with the flats I mentioned above - score!!)

And just cause I'm a proud Mama, here's a recent picture of Mars:

His ears are finally both up!!
